Chelsea are rumored to be considering a move for controversial Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. Although the deal could be difficult but everything is possible in football. Pique who once represented Manchester Utd could easily slot in and get adapted to the demand of the EPL.
Considered as one of the leaders of Barcelona, Pique who has caused more trouble in Spain with rivals Madrid might be consider another challenge before he retires and a mouth watering offer could be too tempting for the Spaniard.
The 28 year old has won all trophies to be won in the Spanish La Liga and even dominated Europe last season crowning it with the FIFA world Club trophy.
His ability to pick up passes and intiate play from behind is one quality tat gives him an edge over others. Tall, and good with the head, Pique could be adding more quality to the Chelsea squad, but his lack of pace could be a big disadvantage to the Spaniard as the EPL is known for its fast paced attackers.
Rumors has it that signing the Spaniard wouldn’t go down too well with many Chelsea faithful as the player is aging gradually and could not be a long term prospect for the Club with young Zouma fighting to secure a place in a defense consisting of Ivanovic, Cahill and Terry.
Hiddink has been instructed by owner Abramovich to integrate Chelsea academy products to the first team. Therefore signing the World cup winner would be out of place.
Chelsea will however need to mass out a huge £50 million if they are to lure the highly rated centre back away from Cap Nou.
