Chelsea’s hope of signing in-demand Everton’s centre back John Stones has been given a major boost after report claims that Everton are now ready to sell the young star but only if Chelsea will be able to meet up their £40million valuation of the England international.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is now looking for potential replacement for Stones in case the Blues sanction a move for his signature.
However, with John Terry not getting younger, Chelsea desperately need another young and equally reliable centre back.
The Portuguese tactician Mourinho views Stones as a potential Terry’s long-term replacement and besides, the Englishman will also count as homegrown with the Blues short of that in the first team squad.
Atlthough it might have surprised most Chelsea fans when the boss Mourinho, substituted Terry at half time for Zouma during last weekend defeat to the Citizen but the fact still remains that Terry is not as fast as he was during his youth days and the Citizen took advantage of that.
In my own opinion, Stones is nowhere worth the £40million valuation. Hence, Chelsea can look on to any other available option in the market.
