Chelsea are set to hold talks with Italian club Cagliari over a possible move for their talented young star Godfred Donsah.
According to Metro, Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini confirmed the news stating that negotiations have started between both clubs.
“We had a chat a few weeks ago with Juventus and Chelsea, but I am stunned by all these rumours around him. The lad needs to grow up with us.”
Although Cagliari president acknowledges various interest coming for the player, but he was also quick to play down any posible transfer for the Ghanaian star this summer.
“We have many other players on low wages and their contracts will be renewed at the right time, including Donsah’s. We received a request to attend a meeting via a lawyer, but I am accustomed to doing things a different way. As soon as the right moment comes, we’ll be happy to renew his contract.”
The 19-year old Ghanaian midfielder has been dubbed as the new Micheal Essien because of his style of play and this has drawn interest from both Champions League finalists Juventus and Chelsea’s arch rival Arsenal.
