Report: Chelsea set to hijack Spurs' deal for Willian
In what would be a big news that will bring a smile to many Chelsea fans’ face, The Blues’ are set to hijack Tottenham Spurs’ deal for Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala. According to the Telegraph, Jose Mourinho has made an 11th hour attempt to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s 30m Pound deal for Willian.
Willian has already passed a medical with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea’s London rivals remain confident of signing the Anzhi Makhachkala attacker, but Mourinho has stepped in and talks are believed to have been held.
The 25-year-old has spent the past 24 hours considering his options, which has encouraged Chelsea, and if Mourinho does complete a deal it will come as a huge frustration for Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas.
If this deal goes through, it would be for the 2nd time that Chelsea hijack a key move that was awaiting to happen for Spurs. In summer of 2012, Chelsea managed to grab Brazilian star, Oscar under the noses of Tottenham while it was reported that a deal was close to be concluded that would have taken Oscar to White Heart Lane.
But, Willian’s transfer can have huge impact in Spurs’ fortune as they really have high hopes for him to replace Real Madrid bound, Gareth Bale who is set to go to Bernabeu in World Record 93m Pound + Fabio Coentrao. They won’t immediately become title contenders with this set of transfers but, if they lose out to Willian to their London Rivals, it would be a big coup for us and a huge set back for Spurs once again!
