Transfer news: Inter president claims Guarin might leave this January
The search for a central midfielder in this January transfer window has continued with Mourinho bidding to bring in either Nimanja Matic or Inter’s Fredy Guarin. Even though it was reported earlier this month that an official bid from the Blues has been rejected, Inter’s president Erick Thohir has said the player might leave this month.
“Guarín is a great player, I like him a lot. We would obviously love to keep him, but the situation in Europe is not like in Indonesia,” he said.
“When there are great offers from big clubs, we have to take them into account. And above all, we can’t make a player stay when his heart is not in it, but at another club.”
And the source of this news, Daily Mirror has also mentioned that the 27 year old Colombian international is being watched by Southampton for a possible switch into Premier league. Inter Milan are interested in the Saint’s striker Pablo Osvaldo and are thinking of offering the want away midfielder as a makeweight to price away the Italian striker from Southampton.
