Abramovich SANCTIONS Deal For Antoine Griezmann – Chelsea Transfer Record To Be Broken
If reports in the Spanish and English media this morning is anything to go by, Chelsea may just be days away from announce the capture of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
According to reports, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told Chelsea deal makers to ignore the increment on Griezmann’s release clause and ensure the young French attacker signs for Chelsea before the transfer window closes on September 1.
Griezmann has been one of the players most linked to Chelsea so far this window. Last summer, he was also said to be on his way to Chelsea but instead Chelsea signed Diego Costa and Luis Filipe. Although Diego Costa has done marvellously well for the blues so far, his tendency to get injured and spend time on the treatment table means Chelsea are still in need of a striker especially with Falcao and Remy also injury prone.
Although Griezmann is not a natural striker, the striking role is one of the many roles he can play him. Last season, playing mostly as a second striker behind Mario Manduzkic, Griezmann scored 27 goals and created 5 assists in all competition.
According to reports, Roman Abramovich has been told by Mourinho he wants another striker and Griezmann is the Portuguese’s first choice due mainly to his ability to play the striking role as well as on the wings and the 10 role.
