Chelsea Must Aim to Keep Youngster
Real Madrid are interested in signing Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, according to a report which was published by The Sun. The youngster is considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. He was strongly linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich in January but the move reportedly collapsed after the Bundesliga giants were rejected by the Blues who want to naturally keep their prized asset.
Frank Lampard was able to convince Hudson-Odoi to commit his future to the West Londoners last summer after he wanted out for a new challenge in search for more regular first-team action. This has nevertheless not stopped Real Madrid from considering a move for the player. Los Blancos have struggled for consistency since Cristiano Ronaldo left them to join Juventus during the summer of 2018. They may well look into new reinforcements next summer and Hudson-Odoi is one who could be part of their vision.
Considering that Real are one of the most decorated clubs in the Champions League and the World, it is hard to see the player not at least being tempted by the prospect of joining the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.
Frank Lampard has done a sterling job as Chelsea manager so far
For now at least, Chelsea is probably the right environment for Hudson-Odoi to be at. Lampard is changing the dynamics of the club and giving young players an opportunity, something which the Blues have been hesitant to do since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003. This season alone, three young talents in Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount have been converted into stars.
Hudson-Odoi will be able to fit in well into Lampard’s plans going forward. It is a no-brainer really that Chelsea should do everything in their books to ward off interest from other clubs.
