AGREEMENT REACHED: Europa Cup Winner Set To Sign For Chelsea, Deal To Be Announced In January
Report according to the Metro claims that Chelsea have reached an agreement to offer England international centre back Gary Cahill a new contract extension.
Although Cahill contract with the Blues will expire in the summer of 2017, the Stamford Bridge outfit are however reluctant to let player of his caliber leave, with John Terry no longer at his best due to his age.
Chelsea defense have come under criticism this season and as a result Mourinho has rotated his centre back line among Terry, Cahill and young French star Kurt Zouma in other to find a balance.
Cahill moved to Chelsea in 2012 from Bolton Wanderers and have since helped the Blues won major title such as the UEFA Champions’ League, UEFA Europa Cup, Premier League title, FA Cup and the Capital One Cup.
His outstanding performance for the Blues last season earned him a place in the Premiership team of the year squad along with five of his colleagues.
Chelsea are keen on not violating the FA law on home grown which Cahill is part of. The 29-year old star contract extension with the Blues will be announce next year.
