Chelsea Edges Closer To Completing Transfer Of ORTHODOX Defensive Midfielder (Not Pogba)

After nine years of successful spell with the EPL defending champions Chelsea, Nigerian international John Obi Mikel is set to exit the Stamford Bridge for a new challenge with Turkish outfit Besiktas on a season-long loan.

This was made know by Turkish media house Milliyet, who claimed Besiktas are set to complete the transfer for the 28-year old star on a season-long loan move with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Mikel moved to Chelsea in 2005 from Norwegian club Lyn Oslo but has found playing time limited in recent times due to outstanding performances from the Serbian international Matic.

The Nigerian international was part of Chelsea’s squad that won the UEFA Champions League in 2012 where he played the full 90 minutes in their epic win against Bayern Munich right before their home fans in Allianz Arena.

However, since the return of Portuguese tactician, Mikel has found himself playing from the bench and to worsen his situation with the Blues, Mourinho now prefers to use young French star Kurt Zouma in the holding midfield position in the absence of Matic.
