FIVE Reasons Chelsea Will Defeat Southampton
The Blues will welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge for Week 8 fixture of the Barclay’s English Premier League with enormous expectation to build on their collapsing season after a run of dismal performances.
Chelsea are not used to sitting at the bottom half of the table with the stats showing just 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats already this season amassing just 8 points from the available 21 points.
No better Coach can turn things around like the ‘’Special One cum the Happy One’’ Jose Mourinho. Known for his ruthlessness and tactical ingenuity, Blues Boss needs the backing of the fans and everyone at Chelsea to make this turnaround possible.
Reasons why Chelsea could avoid another defeat lies in the possibility of Captain John Terry returning to the starting line-up and Branislav Ivanovic being dropped to the bench after a woeful performance against FC Porto.
With Terry providing leadership and steel to the back line, Chelsea fans could be relieved that there would be minimal “school boy error” exhibited lately by Kurt Zouma.
Summer signing, Baba Rahman slotted to the left-back position and outstanding Cesar Azpilicueta to his natural position (with Ivanovic dropped), John Terry and Gary Cahill defense combination could limit the threats caused Graziano Pelle, Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic.
A defeat would be damning to the Chelsea team and Jose Mourinho. The Special One would be keen to avoid such as his reputation and his job is at stake. The team would seek to avoid another embarrassment and would want to make a statement to other teams.
Having dropped Eden Hazard to the bench against FC Porto, Chelsea Star Man would be freshen up for this tie and being at his best would definitely be a boost for Chelsea against Southampton.
Jose Mourinho teams over the years have been difficult to beat at their home ground. The Portuguese Coach had made Stamford Bridge a fortress. Teams find it difficult to beat Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge regardless of their form. Southampton beating Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge is definitely an uphill task which I can’t see happening. Home support could prove massive for the team.
