Forget Pogba: Chelsea Set To COMPLETE Transfer Of MAVERICK Midfielder In January, Chelsea Fans Will Like HIM

Although the summer transfer window may have come and gone, the EPL defending champions Chelsea have decided to be pro-active in next winter transfer window after failing to secure the signature of summer target John Stones on transfer deadline.

Reports according to Daily Star claims that the Blues are already preparing for January recruitment, with Southampton tough tackling midfielder Victor Wanyama on their radar. Mourinho is poised to strengthen his midfield option following his team poor start to the season campaign.

The 24-year old Kenya international moved to Southampton in 2013 from Scottish side Celtic and has since establish himself as a player to reckon with in the EPL.

He was wanted by various top clubs last summer with Tottenham the fore-runner for his services. The spurs offered £18million plus Eric Lamela on loan in the last days of the transfer window but the Saint refused to sell having sold Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester united earlier.

Although French maverick midfielder Paul Pogba happens to be the Portuguese tactician Mourinho first choice option, but with stiff competition coming from European giants Barcelona, Wanyama may just be a good back up plan should the deal to sign Pogba fails.

Wanyama would definitely be a good replacement for Nigeria international Mikel Obi who has falling down in the pecking order of Chelsea midfield options.

It was reported earlier on that Mourinho is keen on axing the midfielder from his team next January after spending nine years with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
