Good News: Spanish Star Set For SHOCK Chelsea Transfer, Medicals Ongoing
After spending most of his spell with the Blues on loan, Spanish midfielder Oriol Romeu is set to depart Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal to the saint mary’s side.
This report was made known by The Independent who claimed Chelsea have agreed a permanent deal with Southampton to sign the 23-year old star. They also claimed the spanaid is set to undergo medical with the English side today.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman sees the Spain international as a potential replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin who moved to Manchester United this summer for a reported £25million.
Romeu joined Chelsea in 2011 for a reported £5million from Spanish giants Barcelona. . He broke into chelsea’s first team under then-head coach Andre Villas Boas but later suffered a knee ligament injury which ruled him out for eight month.
Since the return of Jose Mourinho, Romeu has failed to break into the Blues’ starting eleven. He was loaned out to Valencia in 2013/2014 season and also Stuttgart in 2014/2015 season.
Should this deal go through, Romeu would be a reinforcement for the saints who are set to compete in the Europa League this season.
