Joy In Chelsea’s Camp As £85,000-a-week Maverick Attacking Midfielder Set To Sign For Club, Announcement Imminent
Unarguably the most in-form and outstanding player for the Stamford Bridge outfit this season, Brazilian sensational midfielder Willian is set to be offered a new contract that would see him as one of the top earners in Chelsea.
According to Sunday Express, Chelsea are willing to offer the 27-year old attacking midfielder a new contract extension which will see earn £100,000-a-week ,in other to fend off interest from European rivals..
Willian blazing form has attracted interest from various top European clubs like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain, who are keen on luring the Brazilian away from Chelsea come January.
Speaking to the press last week the former Shakhtar Donetsk star spoke about his desire to become a Chelsea legend like Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard in the future.
“My hope is to carry on working the same way I am doing right now, and maybe in the future I would like to be recognised by the Chelsea supporters as one of those leaders,” he said.
“Becoming a key player is an obligation for me. I am at a stage in my career, 27, where you can reach the peak. The best time for players should be between 27 and 30.”
Willian moved to Chelsea in 2013 from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala on a five-year deal. He was reportedly on his way to Tottenham before Chelsea hijacked the move.
The very versatile and energetic midfielder was a key player for the Blues last season, making a total of 34 EPL appearances while helping his team won both the Capital One Cup and the Premier League title.
The attacking midfielder is the highest goal scorer for the Blues this season with a total of five goals of which four of them are from a superb free kicks.
Willian currently earns £85,000-a-week but extending his contract and increasing his wages would definitely motivate the sensational star to put in more effort in rescuing his team from their current woes.
