Just In: MOURINHO To Replace Rafael Benitez At MADRID? Club President Perez Speaks Out
With less than 24 hours of sacking Jose Mourinho, rumours already has it that the Portuguese tactician could be heading to Real Madrid to replace under pressure boss Rafael Benitez.
The 52 year old Portuguese man had a three year spell with the La Liga giants before leaving them in 2013, for a return to Stamford Bridge.
His second spell with Chelsea came to an end yesterday, after a mutual agreement between him and the club to go on their separate way. Mourinho who won double trophies for the Blues last season however, left Chelsea with just a point behind relegation zone.
Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez denied the rumours linking Mourinho to Madrid in January, but however refuse to rule out move for the former Chelsea boss in future
“Nobody can predict the future but right now he is not going to come to Madrid.” Said Perez.
“Benitez is capable of solving the problems we have,”
“That’s the only option we’re considering.
“We have very good memories of Mourinho, he raised our competitive level (when he was manager).”
However, Benitez had struggled to lead the La Liga giant this season. His team was kicked out of the Copa Dey Rey competition for fielding in an unqualified player. Madrid are also five points behind co-leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the Primera Division.
