Mourinho Set To Hijack ARSENAL Target From Real Madrid After Poor EPL Performance

After witnessing a poor start to Premier League campaign, defending champions Chelsea are now set to recruit more players to their squad in order to compete for major trophies this season.

Jose Mourinho has been inactive in the transfer window so far having just brought in Asmir Begovic and Radamel Falcao to replace the departed club legends Peter Cech and Didier Drogba respectively.

According to reports from Spanish publication AS, Chelsea are keen on securing the signature of Real Madrid star Lucas Silva on a permanent deal.

The 22-year old Brazilian star joined Madrid during last winter transfer window for a reported £9.7m from boyhood club Cruzeiro but has not been able to convince the new manager Rafa Benitez of his quality.

Benitez sees him as surplus to requirements at the club having the likes of Luka Modric, Asier Illarramendi and Casemiro to contend with in the defensive midfield position.

Should Silva move down to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea would have to part ways with either Ramires or John Mikel Obi.

It is also reported that Chelsea would have to battle with major arch rivals Arsenal and Manchester United for the signature of the Brazilian.
