Not John Stones: Chelsea Set To COMPLETE Transfer Of 6FT 2 Ligue 1 Centre Back
With the close of transfer window beckoning, the Stamford Bridge faithful can still ride on the back of hope and confidence that was instilled on their minds following the club’s activeness in the transfer market. They will easily recall the abrupt capture of Pedro from Barcelona.
According to sport witness, Chelsea have entered the race to sign AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour after failing to secure the services of England international John Stones.
The Tunisian international has been linked to top European clubs in recent times with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool, Real Madrid, West Ham United, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, both Milan clubs, and both Manchester clubs.
Earlier in the week, the Chairman of Everton in his statement indulged Chelsea to look outside Goodison Park for a defender as they are unwilling to let one of their most priced assets, John Stones, leaves this season. This has led the Blues into the race for the signature of Abdennour.
However, it is Abdennour’s agent that has seemingly been pushing for a big move for his client. It will be recalled that in April he told Foot Mercato that:
“Arsenal do not miss one of his matches. They were there yesterday. They know very well. Other very large English clubs like Tottenham are on the spot too. The great Spanish and Italian clubs are very interested”
Nonetheless, if Chelsea acquire his services, he will be a quality addition giving his antecedent for AS Monaco.
