Thibaut Courtois dismissed links of a proposed move to Real Madrid
The Belgian goal keeper, on-loan at Atletico Madrid has been a center of speculation this past weeks with Marca reporting that he is set to join rivals Real Madrid by 2016 when his Chelsea contract runs out or even this summer replacing either Casillas or Diego Lopez. Such has been his impressive performances but Mourinho has insisted repeatedly that he won’t be leaving the club next summer.
He told Spanish newspaper AS: “It is completely false.”
“Everyone knows I’ve got a contract with Chelsea and I’m happy at Atletico. [my future] At this moment, it isn’t clear.”
“I have a contract with Chelsea and at the end of the season, we will see.”
Jose Mourinho plans on holding on to the Belgian as he is already the best young goal keeper in the world and could replace Petr Cech at the club for many years to follow. But, Courtois wants a starting role at the club he plays and a rotational policy between different competitions is set to implemented by Jose Mourinho next season.
The situation will be similar to the way Real Madrid are faring between the sticks this season under Ancelotti in which Casillas and Diego Lopez swap between different competitions. The competition will be key for both Goal keepers as Cech is an icon at the club and Courtois is rising into becoming the best goal keeper in the world.
