TRULY World Class – Chelsea On The VERGE Of £66m Signing
If a report by Metro is anything to go by, then Chelsea may be on the verge of signing a truly world class striker this summer. Earlier in the summer, Chelsea were linked to the signing of high rated Atletico Madrid strike Antoine Griezmann but that rumour has died down now.
However, according to metro, Chelsea are on alert to sign Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain after the Argentine reportedly told the Serie A club he wants out of the club this summer. Higuain who has been linked to Arsenal and Manchester United in the last few weeks is a striker who Jose Mourinho reportedly likes and wants to reunite with him at Stamford Bridge if metro is to be believed.
Chelsea currently have Diego Costa, Remy and Falcao as first team strikers and will be looking to add one more striker to the fold considering the precarious injury situation of the aforementioned trio.
Higuain is the sort of striker Chelsea could do with right now. However, considering the presence of Costa, it is unlikely that this deal will happen. I simply cannot see Mourinho benching Costa and Higuain will never come to Chelsea to be a second fiddle.
Another stumbling block is the reported £66 million transfer fee Napoli are demanding for him. With FFP law still in operation, though a bit relaxed, I simply can not see how Abramovich will sanction such a deal knowing full well it will put Chelsea in UEFA’s black book.
