4-2-3-1: Chelsea Likely Line Up For City, Matic & Zouma starts
When many Chelsea fans were hoping their club will start the season on a flying note, the Blues instead kicked started the defense of the title they won last season on a disappointing note. Chelsea could only get one point from the match against Swansea even though they were in a winning position before the Welsh team came back into the game and went away with a 2-2 draw.
A silly mistake from goalkeeper Courtios means the Blues played the bulk of the game with just 10 men. However, this Sunday, in a title contenders’ game, Chelsea have a perfect chance of righting their wrongs by beating Manchester City at the Etitad stadium.
Considering City are not a small team, to beat them, Chelsea manager will need to be at his tactical best and will need the best among his players to call on.
With Costa back to full fitness and City’s Aguero likely to start despite initial reports claiming the Argentine will miss the match, the game will be decided in the midfield. Fabregas will need to be at his creative best and Costa who is likely to get the nod for this match needs to be at his best in front of goal as this not a game in which many chances will be created. The one or two chances created has to be taken if Chelsea must win this match.
Matic will have to be at his best against Yaya Toure and Silva. Knowing Jose Mourinho, he is likely to use a double defensive midfielder tactic hence I expect Zouma and Matic to play the double pivot role with Fabregas moving slight up the field behind Costa.
On the wings we are likely to have Hazard and Willian. The defense picks itself but as Courtios will be serving the first of his three game suspension, Asmir Begovic will come in. The right back position by ever reliable Ivanovic, nevermind the bleep of last week, at left back, Azpilicueta takes his normal slot. In the centre, captain John Terry and Cahill are likely to start.
