6ft 2 Defender To COMPLETE Chelsea’s Transfer In January, Agent Confirms Deal

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic could make a move to Serie A next summer after starting the season on poor note. The 31 year old defender was a key player in Chelsea’s team that won both the Premier League and Capital One Cup last season.

The Serbian international skipper contract expires next summer and there is a high possibility that there would be no contract extension. This is as a result of Chelsea new policy of not offering players over 30 years new contracts.

Ivanovic has endured a difficult season with the Stamford Bridge outfit after seeing his club lose seven matches out of 12 EPL games already this season.

Speaking ahead of January transfer window, the 31-year old defender’s agent Zoran Krneta believes his client could still strike a deal with Chelsea for a contract extension.

He however refused to completely rule out the possibility of Ivanovic joining Serie A side Inter Milan.

“It remains quite possible that he will renew his contract with Chelsea,” said Krneta

“All that I have to say on the rumours regarding Inter is that in football, anything is possible.”

With age and his physical condition, the player might move to a less intense league, where there would be less pressure to deliver. Ivanovic versatility could also make any club deploy him to the centre back position, where he could avoid runs from fast and sharp wingers.
