Chelsea Set To Snap Up Another Barcelona Super Star In January Ahead Of Manchester United
With Chelsea woeful performances this season and the January transfer window looming ahead, rumours surrounding the reigning English Premiere League Champions has it that a bid for Barcelona right back Dani Alves is in place.
Alves was initially meant to leave the Spanish Champions last summer but made a U-turn when he signed a contract extension at the club. The 32-year old defender is also a target for Manchester United.
A surprise bid in the region of €20 million is set to be offered by Chelsea to the Spanish Club. The attraction of playing in the English Premier League could be a motivating factor for the Brazilian right back who has won all available trophies with Barcelona. Seeking a new challenge with a new club could also be a deciding factor for the 32 years old defender.
Chelsea right back Branislav Ivanovic performances has been below expectation and the arrival of Dani Alves could just be the solution.
Alves joined Barcelona for €32.5 million from Sevilla after spending six- year with the club with two UEFA Cups and the Spanish Copa Del Rey.
The flamboyant right back was once a Chelsea target in 2007 but the transfer to Chelsea failed to materialize. However by 2008, Alves joined FC Barcelona making him the world’s most expensive defender.
His pace, intelligence on and off the ball, darting runs and set piece magic could be something which the Chelsea team should be expecting if the deal falls through.
