Chelsea To Lose 6FT 2 Star As Man United Step-up Summer Transfer Interest
With John Terry not getting younger, Chelsea desperately need another young and equally reliable centre back hence not many people were surprised that the blues were linked the signing of young Everton defender John Stones.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been unusually vocal about the club’s pursuit of the young English defender. Now news has emerged ( and by very reliable Espn for that matter ) that Chelsea may actually not sign the centre back as Manchester United are now very close to signing him. According to ESPN, the red devils are ready to pay the 30 million asking price Everton is asking for.
Should Chelsea fail to sign the player, Mourinho will have himself to blame. Chelsea do not only need him because of his ability, which is potentially world class to be honest, but because he is also home grown which will be key to Chelsea this season as they the club needs 1-2 more home grown players to fulfill their quota.
Chelsea should probably have pursued the player secretly and not on the pages of newspapers. With Manchester United unlikely to fall foul of UEFA’s FFP laws, they can afford to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get the player a luxury Chelsea can not afford.
