Done & Dusted: Chelsea COMPLETES Transfer Of POWERFUL Box-To-Box Playmaker
Chelsea have officially completed the transfer of Spain international Oriol Romeu on a three years deal.
According to daily star, the 23-year old midfielder signed for southampton today on a three years deal after completing his medicals with the saints.
The player expresses his delight by saying:
“It’s very good to be a part of this club, “I was looking for a good club and for something new in my career.
“After spending two years on loan, I needed something permanent and a club with a future – and I think I chose the right one.
“Southampton are doing the right things in the last few years and, once they came to me and asked me to come here, from the first day I was hoping to come.
“Now I just want to keep going and to keep developing as a player, and I’m looking forward to start playing as soon as possible.”
Southampton director of football Les Reed also expresses his delight in their new signing by saying:
“He is another player who matches the Southampton profile – he is young and hungry, has been developed at a top academy and has already played at the highest level with plenty more to come.
“He will complement the qualities we already have among our squad and provide another level of competition for selection.”
Romeu joined Chelsea in 2011 for a reported £5million from Spanish giants Barcelona. . He broke into Chelsea’s first team under then-head coach Andre Villas Boas but later suffered a knee ligament injury which ruled him out for eight month.
Since the return of Jose Mourinho, Romeu has failed to break into the Blues’ starting eleven. He was loaned out to Valencia in 2013/2014 season and also Stuttgart in 2014/2015 season.
