DOUBLE BLOW: Chelsea Defensive Stars Suffer Injury Ahead Of Aston Villa Clash

EPL defending champions Chelsea have been dealt yet another blow with report according to the Metro claiming that Chelsea right back and team vice skipper Branislav Ivanovic had suffered a three weeks hamstring injury.

The Serbian International has been heavily criticized by most Chelsea fans and various sport pundits for his poor performance this season. Some fans have actually come out to say that the right back injury is a blessing in disguise for summer signing Baba Rahman to be given his EPL debut.

Aside from Ivanovic’s injury, report also has it that England international defender, Gary Cahill is nursing a back injury which he sustained while on national duty for his country.

The 29-year old star was left out of England’s final Euro 2016 qualifier in Lithuania due to the injury. However, the centre back has stated that his injury is not too serious.

Cahill also stated that he does not know the extent of his fellow teammate Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic injury are but was quite positive that his own back pain was just a minor injury and he hopes to return to Chelsea starting line-up this weekend.

“I don’t know how bad their injuries are, hopefully not too bad. My injury is OK.” Said Cahill

This is definitely going to affect Jose Mourinho’s team selection, should neither of them return before the clash against Aston Villa right in front of their home fans at Stamford Bridge.
