Chelsea do not want to lose goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the summer.
Courtois is starring on-loan with Atletico Madrid this season.
The London Evening Standard says Chelsea have stepped up their bid to convince Courtois to sign a new contract and have met with his representatives for more talks over his future at Stamford Bridge.
It is understood owner Roman Abramovich’s senior adviser and executive board member Marina Granovskaia is now overseeing the matter personally.
While a source confirmed talks were “going slowly”, it is believed that Chelsea are telling Courtois that he will get the opportunity to battle it out with Petr Cech for the No1 jersey next season.

Truth be told Petr Cech is still a sure 2 – 3 more seasons with Chelsea and then a new goalie can step inn! Thibaut Curtois needs to learn the ropes by playing second to Petr Cech cause he doesn’t even know much having been on loan away in Spain with Athletico Madrid! Everything about the EPL is completely different from the Spanish Laliga! He can’t just say his return is based on been the first choice spot ahead of Cech – that’s desprectful! And feel intimidated cause if he’s sure of himself he would return and fight by waiting for his chance! If he was told that another goalie is asking for his spot @ Athletico Madrid – how will he respond? Chelsea should do away with him and look elsewhere cause I’m sure there are some best save hands than thibault curtois in the world! Waiting patiently to be discovered
Gud move by Chelsea. We cant afford to loss such a gr8 talent
1) Pay him the same as if he were our starter. 2) Let him study at the feet of the master on EPL football next season, and give him a dozen starts in all competitions. 3) Make him the #1 starter in 2016 with Cech getting 15 starts and mentoring him. 4) Cech is solely backup and spot starter in 2017. Courtois is our starter until 2030.
