Massive: Chelsea To Complete Transfer Of £75,000-A-Week DM
Having started just one Premier League match for the EPL defending champions this season, Nigeria international John Obi Mikel could be shown the exit door to Stamford Bridge next winter transfer window after spending nine years with the Blues.
This is according to Daily Star which claims Turkish giants Besiktas have renewed their interest in the services of the box-box midfielder.
Besiktas were hoping to get the signature of the Nigerian during the summer transfer window but the deal didn’t go through due to Chelseas’s inability to lure French midfield maestro Paul pogba to Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year old star had helped Chelsea win many trophies both in England and across Europe. His greatest performance for the Blues can be trace down to Munich 2012, when he helped his side win the prestigious UEFA Champions League Cup for the first time in History.
However, since the return of Serbia international Nemanja Matic from Benfica, the Nigerian international has fallen down the pecking order in the Blues’ starting eleven, with the Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho preferring the combination of Matic and Cesc Fabregas in the his holding midfield position.
I personally think this is the right time for Chelsea to let Mikel leave the club and give chance to young star like Ruben Loftus-Cheek to play.
