Chelsea winger Robert Kenedy made his first debut with with the premier league champion Chelsea yesterday in a pre-season tour match again Barcelona.

The 19 years old Brazilian who became Chelsea player in a deal of £6.3 million from Fluninense in the current transfer window impressed during his 45 minutes play against Washington DC.

The Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on keeping the young star as part of his quard this season after fans had expected the player to be sent on season loan to Vitesse Amham to gain more playing time and experience.

“We bought Kenedy because we believe in him. He’s a very young kid that we believe a lot in, hopefully,”

“We have conditions to get him a work permit because we want him. We don’t want him to go out on loan, I think we have what the rules demand to get him a permit.

“He was in pre-season with us without the documents so he couldn’t play the first two matches for us.

“Against Barcelona he had the chance to do it and even if it was a friendly I think it was the best debut for a kid, to play against the best team.

“It was a great night for the kid and a great experience.” said chelsea boss.

Should the wonder kid stay at Stamford Bridge for the fort coming season, he would definitely learn a lot from the more experience players.
