Chelsea Football Club have finally announced the signing of SL Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matić on a five-and-a-half-year deal worth €25m.
The Serbian international will wear the number 21 shirt at Chelsea.
“I am very happy for this opportunity to be back at this club. I feel very good because of that and just want to say I will give my best to help the team and make the Chelsea fans happy.” -Matić
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea for just €1.8m in 2009 but left two years later as part of the deal which brought David Luiz to Chelsea in the January on 2011.
Jose Mourinho on Matic:
“I am very pleased that Nemanja is returning to Chelsea. He has grown as a player in Portugal and has become a fantastic all-round midfielder. I am sure he will become a very important member of the squad and help us to achieve our ambitions.”
The return of Matic will be financed in large part by the €18m sale of Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg.

I don’t see Mata surpassing Oscar as the starter for the No.10 role. Nor do i see Luiz starting over Cahill. Rest is fine IMO

The white Yaya Toure this guy. Too bad he’s cup-tied, but he can still help our Champions League campaign indirectly, He can play domestically in place of Mikel, Lampard, or Ramires to have them fresh for a Champions League match.
