According to Daily Mirror, Chelsea and manager Jose Mourinho are confident they have sealed a 50m pound summer transfer for top target Diego Costa. The striker was on the radar of many European clubs but Chelsea having a problem up front of all areas on the pitch, are the most interested and front runners in this race.

The deal is apparent to be concluded even though we can not exactly be sure of the price tag the club might agree upon this summer. And talks between the two clubs’ officials might go on for the next two weeks as clubs prepare to clash for a place in the Champions league final in two leg encounter. Thibaut Courtois may not be selected due to fear of angering his parent club even though UEFA has allowed his involvement in the two games plus Ron Gourlay has said that Courtois can play against his parent club.
When asked about the possibility of Costa leaving Atletico this summer, his manger Diego Simeone said…
“It will depend on him and what he thinks is best for his future. I will support any decision he makes.
“It’s natural that Chelsea are interested in him and that makes me happy, because my aim and that of my coaching staff is to see our players improve.
“We understand that Chelsea have huge financial power and if he wants to live off football for the rest of his life, I will have no problem in him going.
“It was like Radamel Falcao – how could I tell him not to go to Monaco [last summer]? He gave life to this club [during his time at Atletico].”
Since the Blues are set to likely offload the front three strikers in form of Torres, Ba and the influential Samuel Eto’o this summer. This news is a big boost for Jose Mourinho’s team.

The season is gradually coming to an end,the management and fans now have the opportunity to evaluate the perfomances of our 3 strikers.If we check top scorers’ list in all our competitions Chelsea is missing out.This a clear indication that none of our strikers has done well this season.Bringing in Diego Costa at reasonable cost makes sense.The management can sell any or all the 3 strikers if they deem it neccessary.The bigest mistake Jose will make is to sell Lukaku.Among all our Strikers he has the brightest future considering his age.There is clear evidence that he adopted to his development programe.He should return and join the rest of the squad in order to keep growing with them at the same time.
Buyng costa is de major option 4 de blues front but eto and lukaku should b maintained while torres nd ba should b sold.
My only issue wif mou is his usee of young players. I hope he gives youth a chance dis second coming. If not, our fav young players like piazon, chaloobah, mceachran, loftus cheek(did yu see how impressive he was againstt city during pre season), islam feruz , bamford and lewis baker might not see the light of day in a chelsea shirt. Lukaku, costa and an academy player (bamford or feruz) would make perfect sense

£185,000 a week 4 Costa? Chelsea once again are abt 2 fall foolish in players transfer & wages.
He is worth it because he is the missing puzzle in this team. Moreover his style of play suits Chelsea so secure him Mourinho.
He is a good players. The cost and his wage is not much comparing to z wage and cost of other players equivalent to his standard. If we don’t pay this cost we lost such type of quality players! I also like blue to buy Manizuski and blue wl be next yr z feard team!
Why we should have only 3 strikers but not 4? We have 4 battle lines (EPL, UEFA Champion, FA Cup, League Cup). All our big competitors like Liverpool, MC, Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern have at least 4 strikers. Good to get Costa, bring back Lukaku, keep either Eto or Ba, and give chance to one of our potential young player like Piazon (he made 11 goals in 24 appearances at Vitesse this season).
After we bring back Curtois (GK), Zouma (CB, replacement for Terry in long term), buy one world class left back to replace A Cole like Luke Shaw and promote one of our young out loan LBs like Van Aanholt or Cuevas, our team will be perfect to challenge 3 or 4 champions!!
