Transfer Rumours : Chalobah, Falcao, Yaya Toure, Shaw, Mkhitaryan and Hulk
Hulk moved to St Petersburg in September for a fee of £40million after Chelsea had twice failed with bids to land the hitman, but the Brazilian could end up at Stamford Bridge after all.
According to reports in Russia, the 26-year-old has become frustrated with Zenit manager Luciano Spalletti and has requested a transfer at the end of the season.
Hulk is dodging questions about his desire to leave – but told reporters this week that he is specifically interested in the Premier League.
‘My future? I love the Premier League,’ said Hulk.
‘The Premier League is a great competition with great clubs. If I have time, I watch the matches on television.’
Chelsea are the only club known to hold a serious interest in Hulk, and as they mull over a big-money striker purchase in the summer the comments come at an interesting time. Hulk is expected to cost upwards of £45million.
Falcao :
The Spanish TV station Punto Pelota has claimed that a top secret meeting was staged between representatives of Atlético Madrid and Chelsea last Sunday to discuss a proposed move for Radamel Falcao. So top secret that it’s now being reported in newspapers the length and breadth of Spain, England and the player’s homeland of Colombia.
El Tigre will no doubt face questions about this frenzied speculation from the press in Barranquilla, where he is presumably on duty with his national team, who take on Bolivia tomorrow.
Yaya Toure :
Currently in Abidjan, Ivory Coast enter The Scorpions of Gambia in a World Cup qualifier this weekend, we await news of what Yaya Touré has to say to local reporters with interest. Chelsea and Real Madrid are both believed to be interested in signing the occasionally lumbering Manchester City midfielder who is feeling unappreciated at the Etihad and has told Manchester City he will leave this summer if a new deal was not agreed by Saturday.
Luke Shaw :
Tottenham have joined to race to sign Luke Shaw from Southampton.
While Tottenham can point to the success of Bale and offer Shaw a chance to play for a side pushing for Champions League football, it seems they will not be the only club vying for his signature.
Chelsea are also keen to secure a long-term replacement for currently left-back Ashley Cole who only recent signed a new one-year deal with the club.
Ryan Bertrand has successfully deputised for the England full-back but it seems the Blues are keen to try and tempt Shaw to make the move to west London.
Shaw was actually born in Surrey and lived just a matter of miles away from Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham. In fact he even admitted on Twitter that he grew up as a Chelsea fa
However, both London clubs will face a real battle to convince Southampton to part with the defender as they are under no financial pressure to sell and will hope that they can match the players ambitions by pushing for a higher finish in the Premier League next season.
Mkhitaryan:
The Armenia international has caught the attention of the Premier League clubs along with Barcelona. Chelsea and Manchester City are said to be most interested in the Shakthar star.
Mkhitaryan admits he has had his head turned by the speculation, and wants to pit his wit against the world’s best.He said: “For every player to play for the strongest clubs in the world is a dream, and I will do everything possible to move this summer to a different team.”
The 24-year-old is currently contracted with Shakhtar until 2015.
Nathaniel Chalobah:
Chelsea are set to open talks with Nathaniel Chalobah over a long-term contract amid interest in the England Under-21 international from a number of clubs, including Arsenal.
The club plan to begin negotiations in the next few months and are confident the player will agree a new deal to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Chalobah, 18, who can play in defence or in midfield, has spent this season on loan at Watford, where he has played a major role in helping them challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
