Demba Ba set for Chelsea move

Chelsea bound: Demba Ba
Chelsea bound: Demba Ba

The news just broke during the Chelsea-Everton clash at Goodison Park. Sky Sports News reported that Newcastle striker Demba Ba, 27, was ready for a move to the Bridge. Despite Alan Pardew’s numerous attempts to keep him, it seems the Senegalese player is bound to leave in January. Demba Ba was thought to be moving to Arsenal but the Sky report says that Chelsea took the lead this afternoon to sign the Magpies striker.

After numerous attempts to sign big-name strikers like Falcao or Cavani, it looks as if the Blues are ready to settle for an easier and cheaper target by getting Demba Ba. But it’s important to note that Demba Ba will be cup-tied for the Europa League this season, as he played for Newcastle in the competition.

The ex-Hoffenheim striker has a £7M release clause in his contract, which becomes active in January. This season Ba has scored 13 Premier League goals in 20 appearances, which makes him the second best goal scorer : 1 goal behind Robin Van Persie.

Sky reporter Phil Forster reported that Ba’s agents were meeting Chelsea FC representatives tonight. Forster later said on his Twitter account that he had ” been informed by sources very close to Chelsea that Ba is having a scan tomorrow. “. So it seems the talks between the player’s agents and Chelsea have gone well !

The arrival of a second striker will help Fernando Torres in attack, as he is playing every game at the moment. But will the arrival of Demba Ba change Rafa’s plans? Or will he be used as a wonder substitute, as Hernandez is used by Sir Alex Ferguson?

I think Chelsea have got a great first signing, if they can hold onto Ba, for the January window. And hopefully Demba Ba will suit Benitez’s plans pretty well!

Do you think he is going to help Torres up front? How do you think he is going to be used? Give us your thoughts on the arrival of Demba Ba !

This is good news as he is tested, trusted and a prolific striker. He’s just what we need to ease the work load on Torres. He should be played in EPL as he’s already second highest goal scorer.Let Torres focus more on Europa though he’s eligible to play in EPL
