Good News: Chelsea Completes Yet Another Signing, Set To Feature In Aston Villa Clash

Suffering the worst start to a season in 37 years, Chelsea though 16th on the table and having conceded 17 goals in their opening eight games, have signed the former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia as emergency back-up to summer signing Asmir Begovic.

This was made known by Chelsea official web site that the 33-year old goalie will remain with the Blues till the end of the 2015/2016 season.

This move has been on the cards since last week after Chelsea confirmed that the goalkeeper was having trials with the club. The move serves as a measure to have a cover for the goalkeeping position with Asmir Begovic the only senior goalkeeper available.

The Italian Shot stopper was part of the Italian squad that won 2006 FIFA World Cup and also participated in Euro 2008. Amelia became a free agent on 1 July 2014 and last played for Perugia in Italy.

First choice Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is out injured with Knee ligament and his return is billed to be in January.

Amelia signing is now the second signing for the Blues after the close of the transfer window having completed Mohamed Salah permanent move to AS Roman last week.
