Latest: Chelsea At The Verge Of Capturing Powerful Box-to-box Destroyer
News making the rounds claim the EPL defending champions Chelsea have enter the race to sign France international midfielder Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain come January transfer window.
This is according to the Express which claimed that the Stamford Bridge Outfit are looking forward to securing the signature of the 28-years old box to box midfielder after failing to secure the services of Juventus power house Paul Pogba, during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea were initially keen on signing Pogba but it all seems now that the La Liga giants Barcelona have won the race with various reports claiming that an agreement had been reached between the midfielder and Barcelona and that both parties are just waiting for winter transfer window to finalize the deal.
Matuidi joined PSG in 2011 from Ligue one side Saint-Etienne and had since developed himself to becoming one of the best midfielder in Europe. He scored a total of four goals in 33 league appearances last season while helping his team retained the Ligue One title.
Should Chelsea be able to sign the French man, he would definitely be a good replacement for out of favour Nigeria international John Obi Mikel who is bound to exit the Bridge next winter transfer window after spending nine years with the Blues.
However, Chelsea would have to pay a huge sum around £30million to PSG if they are to lure the 28-years old star away from Paris.
