Frank Lampard hopes to return to Chelsea for the new season.

Lampard was released by Chelsea before the World Cup and he’s set to sign for MLS expansion franchise New York City FC. The Mail on Sunday says Lampard may offer to play for Chelsea for the first-half of the season rather than go ‘on loan’ to QPR ahead of his MLS switch in January.

In other updates, QPR are chasing Demba Ba.

QPR’s chairman Tony Fernandes is willing to shell out big on a top striker ahead of their Premier League return this season. The Sun says Ba is being considered as he is made available from Chelsea this summer.

The Senegal international has also been linked with a move to Turkey since the end of last season.
